Abstract:
The European Union has changed during the past50 years, reaching a number of 27 member states. The last 12 countries that entered the EU have certain particularities that entitle them to benefit from special attention when it comes to country indicators.Since the communist regime has left important marks on many of these countries and their economies, it is important to see to which extent the human health has been affected. Therefore, this paper analyses health indicators in all 12 new member states in order to see their evolution from 1998 to 2005. Even though in 2005, Romania and Bulgaria were not yet members of the EU, they are taken into consideration.
